Giant alert! What an awesome time with the self proclaimed “Elderly Americans”. Today was a delayed celebration for Frank’s birthday due to the nasty weather last week, and it was worth it. First pass through the honey hole was solid, second pass sealed the deal. We had an awesome time fishing by ourselves again today. My guy Stan had the pleasure of landing a 30 inch beast today on top of the fantastic pile of fish we ended up with. It was barely hooked, but we got it handled. What an awesome morning! ... Man was it good to be back on the water! Returning guests joined me for a late start on a sloppy lake. Weather man “One foot or less” actual weather 3-5s. We played watch the weather buoy all morning, and I made the call to give it a shot just after 10. It was a slow ride out, but that was quickly rewarded with great fishing.
When we arrived I dumped rods in the water and before a few hit the water the first fish was hooked up. I was running a faster spoon program hoping to bounce a couple jumpy fish while we caught our walleye, but the green fish just wouldn’t leave us alone 😂🤣 2.7-3.2 mph and the spoons were vacuuming. We kept the walleye clobber fest rolling until the live well was loaded. The lake settled down nicely for our ride back to civilization, and it should be a beautiful morning tomorrow.
I may run a second crew tomorrow (Sunday) shoot me a message if you want to load the freezer. We’re down the a few final days in PA. ... See MoreSee Less
A beautiful day for some catching! (Until it got hot out there) Had a great time in the water with these two today. The fishing was a little slower than I expected today, but it’s hard to complain about walleye limits on a calm lake. Happy Birthday to Paul. So glad I could be part of the festivities. Enjoy the rest of your birthday weekend!
The program remains the same with the exception that the fish moved up about 10 feet in The water column. Live scope was helpful in seeking the depth change, so we moved our gear to the fish and got them handled. The higher fish were as hungry as we’ve seen lately, but they have to eat sometime. ... Update a little late. Wednesday morning began with a livescooe jigging adventure for a couple buddies. The fish had shifted a little deeper, so we worked them over for a bit. We dropped some heavier rigs on them as well. Spinning rods running 1.5 oz weights with short harnesses and bottoms bouncer setups took care of business in 60-79 fow. We followed up that adventure with a 4 person mission to catch dinner for a big crew. The fish continued to cooperate, and we attacked them with a more trolling like approach. We needed a bit more speed to make them happy in the afternoon so 1.7-2mph was the target and the spread still handled them well. The fishing was a bit slower tha it had been, but a dead calm lake in the afternoon can do that. It was still right around 2.5 hours of fishing to load the cooler with 24 golden nuggets… The afternoon crew wanted to see how good that morning bite was, so get we headed out there the next morning and it was absolutely on fire again. What a stretch we’ve had here. Beautiful weather and crazy good fishing. Thanks to everyone that came out this week. One more tomorrow to call it a week. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel here, give me a ring soon if you want to get out this season, we’re coming to the end. ... See MoreSee Less
Double trouble Tuesday. With a light south wind starting the day I was excited to show these fellas more of what the lake has to offer. We power drifted from 55-77 fow and caught the whole way. The morning began with a full house and a partially new crew. We continued the week of walleye whacking with a little fella and his dad joining the mix as first timers. Everyone got in on the action and action there was! Thanks for tossing that banana 😂😂
In the afternoon returning guests plus one came for an easy going afternoon of walleye assault with their friend and new guest. The wind swapped to the north east so my plans changed a bit. We pointed into the waves and I graphed my way to the motherload. The screen lit up and I knew exactly what to do. We deployed the gear and the first rod fired before the second rod made depth. It continued from there. With some help from the crew we got five rods deployed just in time for four of them to take fish. Landing a quad with three guys is a feat with these short leads, but they handled them perfectly.
Thanks for coming back fellas! Late launch today, so your Captain got some extra rest… Look out world! ... See MoreSee Less
My 2nd trip with Ryan - better than the 1st - fish were stacked at 35' in 60' of water - ran 5 rods and had a 4 bagger at one point, a steelhead and 3 walleye - Definitely recommend Ryan if you're looking for a good experience - plan on doing a lake trout charter with him this fall.
Banana!?
Day one and two of the week long fishing extravaganza. 58-70 fow continues to rock and roll for me. We started off Sunday morning with the whole gang with the worminator plan in place we made fairly quick work of them. I threw a couple flicker minnows into the mix as a test and they pulled a couple also. Along with our walleye we added two jumpy fish to the mix. One steelhead ate a crawler harness the other ate a weighted flicker minnow … good times with photo shy friends.
Day two was a solo jigging multi species adventure. We visited the east side of town and did our thing. There are plenty of fish over there right now too. What a great couple days. More tomorrow! ... See MoreSee Less
Congratulations are in order for this bachelor and his crew. We were grateful to be a part of the bachelor party festivities. Captain Lane Brown was able to help out since our group was on the large side. They were all fantastic on the rods and man did we have a big fish bonanza out there. The guest of honor must have been hiding his four leaf clover, because every time he grabbed a rod it was a giant. You could say the meat bucket found its limit today. It was a beautiful lake, we fished from 58-70 fow and worms and various harnesses keep on producing like wildfire. 4oz Bottom bouncers, inlines weights and even dipsey divers all chipped in on my end, and 5 color mid divers along with dipseys were the ticket for Lane’s crew. We’re both tired puppies after a long day on the water and thankful for another day doing what we love. Back at it in the am. Just a few more weeks remain. Let’s go! ... See MoreSee Less
